South Side Project Home Type: Single-family Location: Garfield Ridge Budget: $250,000-$500,000 Project design and challenges: This home addition and renovation in Garfield Ridge was a full gut from the basement to the second floor, including new windows, flooring, kitchen, bathrooms, great room, and basement build-out. The kitchen features gray flat panel cabinetry, quartz countertops, and Wolf and Subzero appliances. The great room overlooks the backyard through new picture windows bringing in tons of natural light. It was important to this client to have a mudroom at the back entry where her guests and family could remove their shoes and wash their hands prior to entering the home. They also opted to install an in-floor laundry shoot that goes from the upstairs closet to the basement laundry room. The basement build-out was complete with a new laundry room, movie theater, and home gym.
